The additional space was noticeable by the window and bed area. When I originally booked this cruise, I selected an interior guarantee cabin for me and my dad. This type of cabin is usually what I select for my cruises because it is the cheapest option. I’d rather spend my money on other things, like specialty dining or activities, than pay for a larger or balcony cabin. The inaugural cruise (maiden voyage) started on Nov 21. Vessel's godmother was Katarina Witt (notorious figure skater / Playboy model).
Kids Venues
The younger kids enjoy the Adventure Ocean space, with dedicated areas for each age group and activities led by trained childcare staff. For those who prefer not to get wet, they can catch some rays on one of the many sun decks. Check out the cabanas on Deck 11, or the loungers and sun chairs that are located on Decks 12 and 13 (suite guests get first pick of the loungers and cabanas!). For that reason, if you’re looking for the most bang for your buck when booking a Voyager of the Seas cruise, but you don’t want to spring for a suite upgrade, go with the traditional balcony cabin.
Differences between the Voyager class cruise ships
You would have a much better bet choosing a resort with a huge pool complex. That being said, a quick dip in the pool can be nice on a hot day. I am constantly told by my fellow passengers that “everybody here has a story.” Yes, I want to reply, but everybody everywhere has a story. You, the reader of this essay, have a story, and yet you’re not inclined to jump on a cruise ship and, like Duck Necklace, tell your story to others at great pitch and volume.
Virgin delivers cruising as only Virgin can

During the day, cruisers will find plenty of activities aboard Voyager of the Seas, such as bingo, art auctions, dance lessons, seminars, rock-climbing wall competitions and even sexy man contests. Poolside, a live band plays a blend of American and Caribbean songs. The boat has 15 decks, of which 14 are passenger-accessible and 9 with cabins. Enjoy spa-like comfort in your stateroom, perfect for couples. Mainstream cruise lines cater to a variety of guests, hoping to provide something for everyone. These typically cost about $100 - $350 per person per day.
Mariner of the Seas shares many of the same dining and lounge venues as Navigator of the Seas. Navigator of the Seas is also the only ship in Royal Caribbean’s fleet with To Dry For. This is a blow dry bar and hair styling salon onboard. Navigator of the Seas is perhaps the most modern Voyager Class ship due to her impressive amplification.

A waiter from New Delhi tells me that his contract is six months and three weeks long. After a cruise ends, he says, “in a few hours, we start again for the next cruise.” At the end of the half a year at sea, he is allowed a two-to-three-month stay at home with his family. As of 2019, the median income for crew members was somewhere in the vicinity of $20,000, according to a major business publication.
Staterooms
On Mariner of the Seas and Navigator of the Seas you will find the Puzzle Break Center. Here, guests can complete a timed puzzle challenge to try and break out of the escape room in time. The majority of the children’s programming is free, but select services, such as late-night babysitting, do come with a fee. For fitness, you’ll also find the ship’s gym on Deck 12, outfitted with all the various workout equipment that you could need. While select classes and gym usage overall are free, you can also find paid classes. Check out the Vitality Spa on Deck 12, where you can book just about any spa treatment imaginable, from a massage to a facial.
READY FOR YOUR STAY
In keeping with the aquatic theme, I attend a show at the AquaDome. To the sound of “Live and Let Die,” a man in a harness gyrates to and fro in the sultry air. I saw something very similar in the back rooms of the famed Berghain club in early-aughts Berlin. Soon another harnessed man is gyrating next to the first. But the show soon devolves into the usual Marvel-film-grade nonsense, with too much light and sound signifying nichts. If any fisting is happening, it is probably in the Suite Neighborhood, inside a cabin marked with an upside-down pineapple, which I understand means a couple are ready to swing, and I will see none of it.
The response among my fellow cruisers has been ecstatic. ” Mr. Rand cries out as we pass each other by the Thrill Island aqua park. You know, you really drank me under the table that night.” I laugh as we part ways, but my soul cries out, Please spend more time with me, Mr. and Mrs. Rand; I so need the company. Grand and Junior Suites have 2 twin beds (convertible), walk-in closet, larger bathroom (bathtub, shower), large living room (desk, drawers, vanity, sofabed, chairs). The Bamboo Room is a Polynesian-themed tiki bar with a selection of tropical drinks and colorful decor. Playmakers is the signature sports bar on Royal Caribbean, and the location on Navigator of the Seas features a pool table, shuffleboard, arcade games, and a private viewing area to watch sports.
Check out Voyager of the Seas’ upcoming itineraries and book your cruise today. Some of the activities for the younger kids allow parents and family members to participate, too, so it’s not like you’re just dropping your child off and heading out to do your own thing the entire cruise. Whichever interior room option you go with, though, you can expect a maximum passenger capacity of four, a small sitting area and small bathroom, with limited storage space.
Of those options, 3 are complementary, or included with your cruise fare. Some of those options are a set price and some have a la cart menu pricing. Only 38% of the dining options are included meaning you might spend more while on the ship due to the additional fees. Back on the Icon, some older matrons are muttering about a run-in with passengers from the Celebrity cruise ship docked next to us, the Celebrity Apex.
They can hold four passengers each and offer 350 square feet. As implied by its name, our upgraded cabin did indeed feel quite spacious at 211 square feet. Comparatively, our interior cabin would've been 160 square feet.
Or wander through iconic blue-domed churches in Santorini. The Studio B ice rink presents dramatic ice shows starring a cast of professional skaters from around the world. Enjoy dazzling costumes and choreography filled with amazing spins, leaps and lifts. The new water park and the duo of waterslides were first introduced on the ships Liberty of the Seas and Harmony of the Seas (Oasis-class). On Spa Deck 12 (aft), the new “Slashaway Bay” kids aqua park was added.
This long line made sense because passengers were not able to board until after the inspection was complete. Royal Caribbean emailed me multiple times about this inspection, so I knew it was going to happen. Voyager was instantly the largest cruise ship in the world when she debuted (only until Explorer of the Seas entered service the following year). When Voyager of the Seas debuted in 1999, she turned the cruising world upside down. This was the ship that introduced the idea of having an ice-skating rink at sea, rock climbing wall at sea, and indoor promenade.
The rooms feature midscale hotel-esque furnishings and decor, with a gold and navy blue color palette. Most meals were only an hour and a half long, sometimes shorter. When I cruised on Adventure of the Seas, my food was either a hit or miss in regards to the temperature. My dad and I truly had no complaints about the Main Dining Room.
